First Trimester Screening - Part 2

We got the results from the perinatologist's office about our risk assessment for Down's Syndrome, Trisomy 13 and Trisomy 18. Our risk for Down's is 1 in 7,361. And our risk for Trisomy 13 or 18 is 1 in 10,000. So we're pretty excited about that. Obviously, it doesn't guarantee that everything will remain sunshine and roses, but we're reassured that everything looks great at this point.

I watched the movie "The Business of Being Born" with Nicole, Jessica, and Brianna this weekend. I highly recommend it. It shows some amazing facts about birth in the US compared with other countries. It's made me start thinking of what I want to do when Sprout decides to make an appearance. And I think (THINK) that I want to try to do it naturally. Now, granted, I am a big sissy with a low pain tolerance, but my OB is awesome and has some great resources for people like me. That being said, I'm not going to feel bad if I ask for an epidural after the first real contraction!!

I now offically look like I have a beer gut. Not definitely pregnant-looking, but you can definitely tell that my shape is changing. I'm pretty excited that I'm starting to look pregnant. (Or like I've had one too many Budweisers, all depending on how you look at it :) You have my permission to remind me of that in the middle of August...

13 weeks, 4 days today. Second trimester officially starts on Thursday. Hot-cha-cha!!
